HOMER Pro Time Series Results Plot

Product: HOMER Pro 3.11.5

There are a variety of tools in HOMER Pro to help you understand how the components are operated (“dispatched”) to determine the economics. You’ve probably been able to open the detailed Simulation Results by double-clicking on a system in the Optimization Results table.

This opens the Detailed Simulation Results window, which provides a range of useful outputs spanning the technical operation and economic results for your simulation. It is worthwhile to click through each of the tabs in the window. The Plot button at the bottom is particularly useful for understanding the dispatch of your simulation.

The plot view of time series results in HOMER Pro lets you generate 7 different types of plots of your results: Hourly, Monthly, Daily Profile, DMap, Histogram, Cumulative Distribution Function and the Duration Curve. The hourly time series plot lets you view the generation from each component, how it serves the load, the resources that power the components, as well as a number of key operational characteristics from each component. Results can be plotted in either the top axis or a bottom axis, by clicking the left or right checkbox, respectively. If you have plotted a set of variables in an axis, you can use the Sum and Difference checkboxes to add the variables. For example, the PV power output and diesel genset output can be added together.

If you right-click on any chart in HOMER Pro, you will see a set of options for modifying the chart. For the Hourly time series plot described above, you can change the properties or export the plot as a PNG file. The properties you can charge are the x- and y-axis labels and whether to display results as a line plot or an area plot.
