Tens of Thousands of Equipment Options at Your Fingertips in HOMER Pro
Product: HOMER Pro version 3.10 and above
As of version 3.10, HOMER Pro users can get an extended library of more than 20,000 solar PV, 3,000 converters and 300 wind turbines for use in their modeling. This feature further enhances your existing library and ensures that you’ll be able to find the equipment you want for your model.
How to extend your library:
You may already be aware that you can select particular components from the ‘Quick Pick’ drop-down on the landing page for each component type. You can also access a longer list of options by clicking the ‘Complete Catalog’ button.
To unlock the extended library, open the Complete Catalog and click the Download CEC Library button in the lower left. The process may take a few minutes because of the large amount of data involved.
Once the Extended Library has been downloaded, you can use the Complete Catalog columns and filters to select the PV module of your preference. The Library column identifies if the component comes from your personal User library, the HOMER Pro Default 2 library that HOMER Energy provides, the California Energy Commission CEC library, or the SAM library.
Once you have selected a component to include in your project design, double-click on it or click once and click ‘OK’.
The extended list of additional PVs and converters comes from the California Energy Commission (CEC) catalogs, which can be found at http://www.gosolarcalifornia.ca.gov/equipment/ , and is updated monthly. ‘Go Solar California!’ is a joint effort campaign of the CEC and the California Public Utilities Commission.
The expanded wind turbines come from Solar Advisory Model (SAM) database. SAM can be downloaded for free at https://sam.nrel.gov/download.
How do I get the latest updates for my HOMER Pro library?
HOMER Energy updates its component library on an ongoing basis. If you have an internet connection, HOMER Pro will update the “Pro Default 2” library automatically. However, if you don’t have internet, HOMER Pro will still have access to your locally installed library, although it may not be the most up-to-date. All of the components in this library, whether from the network or from your local computer, will appear in your Complete Catalog as “Pro Default 2”.
If you do not want to get the latest components from the network library, you may change the checkbox to ‘Use locally installed system library only found under the Settings in the HOMER Pro File menu.
